Family2019

OCTOBER
Monday 7th - Grandpa Calvin was baptized Oct. 7 1978. It was not easy to be rejected by his family for this decision but he made it without hesitation. "Either this (church) is the biggest scam cult or it's true. And if it is true then how can I not join and do all I can to follow it's teachings" He is a spiritual Giant. A rock in the Gospel. A Pioneer. And a wonderful Example..

Thursday 17th - Family Reading Night at the school. Hot dog dinner and stations highlighting reading skills. Each station earned a raffle ticket. We stayed till the bitter end. We didn't win the raffle but walked away with half a dozen new books won from the various game stations. During scripture study that night I sniffed disgusted at the air and located the stinkiest feet belonging to my sweet Katana. Thinking I was overreacting she put them to her nose, quickly dropped them, gagging then looked at me. We burst out laughing because they were that bad.

Sunday 20th -The Kelly's came through last week on their way back from Arizona getting a load from auction for Dan. They spent the night only because they got in later than expected and didn't want to drive the craters with a trailer that may or may not have proper lights/ tie downs. Mace was sick and excitedly told everyone "I'm sick I have (Die-A-We-A)" This week I've had a rumbley tummy too. I told Preston it's not nearly as cute when I say it.

NOVEMBER
Thursday 7th - Mace had chapped lips so I applied chap stick. He was upset "Boys don't wear chap stick!" So I wiped it off. "Now they are only medium chapped." I told him to wait a few minutes and they'd dry out again. "OK"

Wednesday 13th - Mace had a Dr appointment. As the nurse was putting in some of his stats Mace farted. Sounding surprised and meaning to pass the buck he said "Did you hear that?....was that you Mom?" The nurse laughed. Picked the kids up from school on our way home. It was a little chilly with a wind. I didn't bring my coat from the car when I ran across the street to get the kids from school. When Axel saw me he immediately took off his coat and scarf. I took the scarf and wrapped him in a big hug. On the way home I explained the word Chivalry with a poem. "Chivalry is not dead. It lives in the few of a countless many." And Axel is one of them.

Tuesday 19th -The end of a thing. Zara has over the last few weeks slowed her nursing. Partly because She has 2 teeth and chews when nodding off, board or not getting a strong flow. Partly because the flow turned to a trickle. I was for the last month only nursing a little in the morning to snuggle and at night after a bottle for comfort. Today She just cried and arched her back not wanting to be held to close. Turning from the nipple without attaching. It was in a way a loss for me. Even though after reflection Preston pointed out with each child I have been able to nurse a month longer. 7 Months is an achievement for me. Another disappointment is I start my monthly thing again. Why must I deal with this if for all intents and purposes I'm done having children?

DECEMBER
Thursday 12th - Katana felt the spirit and recognized it. She had the thought to screw the lid on something but didn't listen and seconds later dropped it spilling the continence. She came to me and we had a good talk 'yes that probably was the spirit. It's good you realize it so next time you feel or hear or think something you follow it. It takes practice like anything else.' She was disappointed She hadn't heeded, yet excited to have felt it and realized later what it meant and so determined to do better. A good reminder to us all.

Tuesday 17th -Katana was in a little play called "A Christmas Moosical." About a Moose who wanted to fly for Santa. 2nd-4th sang songs and 5th grade put on a play. It was so cute and always more so when you have someone participating to look and cheer for. Putting Zara to bed I found a hair wrapped around the base of her toe. It was scary. It was so tight and the toe was red, purple and swollen. There was a real possibility She could have lost it had I not seen it till the morning.

(Cleaning out old school papers I found and have included select excerpts from Katana's School Journals and papers spelling included)

MAY
Aunt McCarty pulled out all the stops for us.  Wong tons for dinner.  Rainbow pancakes for Breakfast. Chalk we could color her back yard walls with.
We tried to take a quick evening drive to the strip to see the water show not remembering / realizing it was Memorial weekend. 3 hours later we finally pulled free of the madness of the strip and a slow moving traffic jam and headed back to the Hatfield's with a promise to return on a less busy weekend.

JUNE

I was trying to remember a song Weston had taught me.  When I sang it to Mom she burst out laughing. "ain't is not a word.  If you say it 5 times you can't live with Jesus."  Real lyrics "Ain't Ain't a word and ya Ain't suppose to say it.  Say'n Ain't 5 times and ya Ain't go'n to Heaven."

OCTOBER

10-2  Dance camp turned out to be more of a cheer camp.  One week shortened to 2 days.  I was the only boy.  I learned it and did it I said I would. It was a good experience and learning opportunity. and I had fun. Katana, Mom and I practiced hard.  Age wise I should be a flyer but because I am big and strong I got to be a Base support for the pyramid.

10-3 Parent teach Conferences . Teacher Mr. Henderson  almost emotional with the desire to help but frustrated with "HOW".   I am smart and stubborn. I get distracted easily.  Learn quickly then get board waiting for what's next.  I want things explained to me over and over and in detail.   Not to be annoying (although it is) but to honestly make the connection of "Why does this matter?" and "How does this work or apply to me.?"  Once I get it i'm good.

10-6 Conference was amazing. We picked out sour patch kids as our treat  for hearing words. One talk was about JOY and Mom just kept throwing them at us cuz we heard so many.   I played with my tooth so much that by the end of the day it just fell out in my hands. Now all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth.

10-17 Family Reading Night.  Hot dog dinner and stations highlighting reading skill.  Each station earned a raffle ticket.  We stayed till the bitter end.  We didn't win the raffle but walked away with  half a dozen new books won from the various game stations.

11-13It was a little chilly with a wind. Mom didn't bring her coat from the car. when I saw her I immediately took off my coat and scarf.  She took the scarf and wrapped me in a big hug.  On the way home she explained the word Chivalry with a poem. "Chivalry is not dead. It lives in the few of a countless many."

3/31- Earthquake 6.2 near Stanley.  I was playing on my phone and I couln't hold it still.  then i looked up and the fly strip was swinging and Mom came down the hall "did you feel that it was an earthquake.'  I was like "that was cool."

March-  We went out to burn the second pile of weeds. Something was poking me.  Dad checked my pants and pulled out winter wheat.  But it was still hurting.  Finally Mom come over and took my pants off. We found 2 fire ants on my butt crack and groin.   OUCH!

4/30- After high tensions getting school done which dragged on till like 3 pm Mom promised a bike ride.   You could smell rain and feel wind picking up when we left. "Lets Hurry"  But we didn't even get to our neighbors before turning around. Nearly blew us off our bikes and we ran/walked part of the way home.  "if you can stay up try to ride it will be faster."  Mom yelled.  You couldn't see our house from down the hill for the dust. I was kind of excited about it; going off about being in a real life Disasters Obby from Roblocks.  It looked like a wall and hit just as sudden. One side of the road was blue sky the other dusty brown. Like a line in the sky.
Got my hair cut tonight. I picked up a fist full of hair off the ground, rub it on my arms and legs.  Then start laughing.  " I look like a Dad. " Mom gave me a hug and told me not to grow up to fast. .

July
trip to oregoan.
Syringa and kiddos came friday.  Saturday we took them on a canoe trip to pillar falls. Azalyn scram the whole time. The wind was with us and Dad held up our sheet like a sail.  It actually worked a little.  We made it to skull island for a pick nick lunch.  Not sure who was more excited to be out of the boat.  The water levels were really low so walking around was easy so long as you didn't fall on the jagged rocks.
We borrowed a 15 passenger van from Dan and Malena for the trip.  It was awesome. we took one seat out so we had plenty of cargo space.  I thought Baler might actually expole from the elation of seeing us. We ate fresh zucchini and  berries all week. Monday we went and got our first flat of raspberries and marionberries.  Within 5 min it was gone. We took a walk down to the creek.  Blackberries grow wild everywhere. They are pocky and sour if not BLACK.  Still the novelty  makes them tasty.
BEACH DAY!   McCarty, Baler and Zaleah piled in the van for a trip to the Oregon coast. We set up near sea side.  It was a little bit of a trek down to the sea shore. It was a foggy morning.  Warm drizzle.  We wen't sure how long we'd last. Maybe a repeat of the trip to California coast in November. Thankfully it ended up being a perfect day.  Not to hot for those on the Beach. Not to cold for those crazy enough (Katana) to body serf the waves. The babies loved the sand. Zaleah literally using  her digging spoon to scoop up mouthfuls of sand  Zara laying on her belly licking the ground.  Lunch everyone had sand-sprinkled sandwiches. YUM. We hunted for sand dollars. broken or halves lay scattered all over.  Dead Jelly fish parts look like snot. Digging bubble hoes fast you can catch mole crabs.  Sun came out mid day so we could see the cliffs and sky.  Before we knew it-it was 5 and we were headed home. "but we just got here"   I defiantly want to come back.
Wednesday much needed rest.  Midafternoon we went blueberry picking. Bushes with bunches of berries.  Got some 15 lbs in less then 30 min.  $1.30 a lb.
Thurdsday's adventure was the River.  Cart had a little blow up canoe.  Mostly we just played in the sand. It was a little bit of a hike back to the van after a day on the water.  We stopped to pick some blackberries. Katana fell and got all stratched up.  Back at Cartys house we realiaed we left the diaper bag it had all 3 of our phones. cart and syringas wallets.  There was lots of tears that night.
Friday-   Going to get more blueberries a car nearly hit us.  A little white car come flying into the barrow ditch, driveway.  Nearly missing  the front tire. Mom swerved back.  He hit the bank on the other side--fishtailed and sped off through a cloud of dust hardly slowing down.  Scary! We had a hot dog roast and berry cobbler for dinner.  Grandma and Grandpa Amy met us at our house and had dinner waiting.  It was nice after the long drive. Dad was in Arco already.  So we unloaded- loaded and left.
Sunday Grandma and Grandpa Kelly got set apart to serve as missionaries in the Los Angeles family search library OR wherever the Lord needs you.  So proud of them.  Even if they never leave at least they were willing to go.

8-20-20 So far my experience with masks has been Doctors and Bandits. So Covid has been kind of scary. When we met my teacher l was so excited and relieved. “she has a see through mask so I can see her beautiful smile.” It's going to be a great year.

8-24-20

Axel has a strong sense of right and wrong. He deals with it in a very wild west kind of way. Eye for an eye-now lets move on. This got him in a lot of trouble at school last year. And after a while he lost trust in adults for the politically correct way they handled it. Axels mind says “you push me so I push you. Done. But the duty teacher only sees me or only hears the other little boy whining so its ONLY me sitting by the wall. That's unfair. They hate me. No one will listen or believe me. School sucks. ” I hope we can start fresh. He's a good kid. He's smart. He learns fast and then gets distracted and board and disruptive. At home I can kick him outside with his animals and chores. At school...good luck. Please don't take his playtime. He needs the physical excursion. Make him walk the fence for 5 min or run laps but I'm totally against “staying inside- head on desk.” A.D.D. probably. Medication- firm No. I hope you will keep in contact with me if things happen so I can handle/ talk about it at home. Let me know if he starts to get rowdy in class before it escalates. I will work with you.

1st Grade Fathers Blessing

Axel

You are an awesome kid. Smart, kind, thoughtful....continue to be that boy. Do your best to listen and except guidance from good examples. Be kind to those around you. Life is not easy but you are tough. Live the gospel principles. Abide by those principles in the things you attempt and want to try. You are loved by your Mother. Your Father. Your Brother and Sisters. We wouldn't trade you for anything in the world. Your Heavenly Father thinks your amazing too. Be calm. Be patient. Do what is right.

8-27
Mrs. Dupuis called asking how to handle me after a reprimand because I shut her out and clammed up.  She was trying to get me to respond and wasn't getting anywhere.  Mom was trying to work with me to communicate or at least acknowledge what was being said.  I had to repeat after her..."YES MOM.   yes mom   I LOVE YOU MOM.  i love you mom  YOUR THE GREATEST MOST BEAUTIFUL PERSON IN THE WHOLE WORLD MOTHER. (a long pause) Really mom you sound like one of those rumiunpton people.  She just laughed.

9-20-19  first Sunday back to church for a while because of corona.  We paid our tithing.  We tallied up our chore chart and figured tithing, mom  tax and other expenses.  We each had a different mentality. When done I wanted to cash in for a lot of little bills so I'd have a fat wallet. Katana traded in and up so she had one big bill $50 in my wallet.  And Mace had his paper spread all over the house so Mom exchanged them for coins.  Much heaver and cooler he thought.

10-10-20   Saturday
We had the opportunity to go down and support Denali in his righteous decision to be baptized.  I am so grateful we did.  It meant a lot to Greg especially. His siblings are sliding further away from the church.  We met up and carpooled in 2 vehicle.  Baler was with us and Preston and Brendon in our van.  Grandma and Grandpa, McCarty, Mom and Zee in the other.  We got to Utah Friday evening. Baptism Saturday allowed 30 people for 30 min.  It was also on Zoom. We had a little program back at the Proctors.   After lunch we took a bike ride to a new park near Syringas house.  She said "right up the road. like 2 miles.  Uphill for the first few blocks then easy you cross like 2 big roads then it's a bike path most of the way."   Reality was " A good 2 miles as the crow flies.  40% incline for a mile.  100 yards of bike path.  You cross 2 six lane highways and 15 lesser intersections.  The side walk is cracked and raised. Cars don't stop for you. We have 14 people strung out half a mile."  It was scary. coming home at least 5 kids got picked up at different times by grandpa in the party van.  Too dangerous.  I was super upset because I wanted to ride the Hoover board back. With all the interceptions and rough roads it wasn't working.  Later Mom and I took a ride around the block at Syringas house. I'm actually really good.   The park was awesome though.  All Abilities park with a water fall splash pad.  The water wasn't on but the toys were amazing.   The Vanwagoner family met up their for watermelon.   Kids were suppose to be on a buddy system but Colvin and Mace didn't quit pan out.  No one even knew Mace was lost till Darlin saw him talking to a lady crying and brought him back.

10-11-20  Sunday.
After a quick sacrament meeting at the house we loaded up.  McCarty and Brendon had bought a Pomeranian shih tzu mix $500 and picked it up just before we left. Baler threw out names all weekend.  unicorn hacksaw, sparkle drill.  They finally agreed on Dolly Dog.  Not to be out done we ended up stopping in Burly to get mini lop lionhead mix $15.  They were a little young but since we got two she gave them for $10.  Katana and Axel both held one Mace asked "Where's my bunny?"  We ended up with 3. A Blessing and miracle.

10-23-20
Mace went out before breakfast to get him and Zara a bunny to play with. He comes back with 2.  And says "Mom the other one is a sleepyhead. it's eyes are shut it's face like this (he sticks his tonge out to the side mouth a little open. AKA not asleep)   I poked it with a stick and it did not move.  Very sleepy."   Oh buddy I think it might have died I'll go take care of it after we eat.   "Mom can we wait like 2 or 3 days to make sure." No I'm sure.

10-31
ward party trunk or treat was cancelled hours before the event.  But that didn't stop us from going old fashioned door to door.  That way is more fun anyway.  More people had there lights off or the bowl on the porch with a sign. "take one". still got a haul and we rocked it as INSIDE OUT.

11-6
Last night Mom put Dad in charge of helping us clean.  He took a big bag -gave them 20 min. to clean and then picked up the rest and tossed it in the garbage trailer.   Sobbing and wailing and gnashing of teeth.  But all the next day we were angels for mom.  Very respectful with our toys and picking up.   Katana had an ortho appointment in Twin.  The Dr. commented on how well behaved we were.  Fear goes a long way.  As a reward for voting in the presidential election TRUMP VS. BIDEN.  we got to go swimming we decided to go to Banbury.  The water wasn't as hot as normal but still nice.  4 hours and still had to pry us away.

11-7
Calling today the Miracle of the bunnies.  Door didn't get locked and they pushed it open and got out.  thankfully mercifully they had survived and we were able to catch them again.  We huddled for a thank you prayer and the sprit was so strong.  Couldn't wait to tell Dad

11-10
We were reviewing our come follow me goals. I was excited when I realized I had accomplished  a hard one.  "To not go to the principles office or get a note home all month."  We've been homeschooled all month but hey semantics.

Preschool Fathers Blessing

Mace

I Love You. Heavenly Father loves you. Brother and Sister you may feel alone. Almost alone-- you have a baby sister who looks up to you and wants to be like you. Be a good example. Listen to Mom. Be smart and Learn lots. Teach you sister good things. Stay Calm—When you freak out it makes it worse- so take a deep breath and stay calm. You are a special boy. Everyone loves Mace. Listen to the spirit. Do what you know is right.

8-26-  I was helping Mom with laundry.  Packing it out to the clothes line, hand it up and pulling down dry stuff.  As we walked back inside  I was just talking.   "wow that was hard.  Life takes work but you gotta do it. Oh look a butterfly.  No 2 butterfly's. yup just work'n.  And a blue tractor. I like tractors. Hey down kitty.   Phew we made it."   Mom said my monologue was really powerful and had many life lessons .  (Life is full of hard things. Don't give up. Find joy in the little things.  Notice beauty.  surround yourself with things hat make you happy. Trails end.) She said I was wise beyond my years.  OK Whatever gets me free time I guess.

9-7-20   Earler in the week Katana set the table and didn't get enough spoons.  Dad was teasing her about that wendell education failing her.  "heck even with my Butte County 'Edga-ma-cation' I can count to 6." Not missing a beat I said "yeah but can you count to 7." touhe'

9-20-19  first Sunday back to church for a while because of corona.  We paid our tithing.  We tallied up our chore chart and figured tithing, mom  tax and other expenses.  We each had a different mentality. When done I  was carrying my money around the house. I had dollers floating out here and there as I tried to get my dimes in and out of my pocket. Mom exchanged the 'paper' for coins and got me an old sock to put them in. Much heaver and cooler.  Katana wanted to trade in and up so she had one big bill $50 in her wallet. Axel wanted to cash in for a lot of little bills so he had a fat wallet.

10-10-20   Saturday

I didn't want her to disappear or leave without me.

Katana and Axel both held one I asked "Where's my bunny?"  We ended up with 3. A Blessing and miracle.

]11-7
Calling today the Miracle of the bunnies.  Door didn't get locked and they pushed it open and got out.  thankfully mercifully they had survived and we were able to catch them again.  We huddled for a thank you prayer and the sprit was so strong. Couldn't wait to tell Dad

10-23-20
I went out before breakfast to get me and Zara a bunny to play with. I came in with only  2  "Mom the other one is a sleepyhead. it's eyes are shut it's face like this (sticks his tongue out to the side. mouth a little open.

He took a big bag -gave us 20 min. to clean and then picked up the rest and tossed it in the garbage trailer.  Sobbing and wailing and gnashing of teeth.  But all the next day we were angels for Mom.  Very respectful with our toys and picking up.   Katana had an ortho appointment in Twin.  The Dr. commented on how well behaved we were.  Fear goes a long way.   As a reward for Mom and Dad voting in the Presidential election TRUMP VS. BIDEN.  we got to go swimming. We decided to go to Banbury.  The water wasn't as hot as normal but still nice.  4 hours and still had to pry us away.

Calling today the Miracle of the bunnies.  Door didn't get locked and they pushed it open and got out.  Thankfully mercifully they had survived and we were able to catch them again.  We huddled for a thank you prayer and the sprit was so strong. We were all excited to tell Dad.

11-10
I got mad at Mom and informed everyone I was changing his name to MACE TIMBER.  Because I like her.  I said she wasn't even offended cuz Timber is awesome.

ZARA

12-17  At bedtime Mom found a hair wrapped around my toe. It was scary.   It was so tight and the toe was red, purple and swollen. It hurt all the next day too.

3/31- Earthquake 6.2 near Stanley.  I was climbing up a step stool in my bedroom. The whole house moved but I didn't even fall over. Mom ran out to check on the kids. "Did you feel that it was an earthquake."  She yelled back at Dad "Grab the baby."  I was totally fine. More upset to get pulled off the ladder as I had worked so hard getting up it.

4/30- After high tensions getting school done which dragged on till like 3 pm Mom promised a bike ride.   A storm was coming so we had to hurry.  But we didn't even get to our neighbors before turning around.  You couldn't see our house from down the hill for the dust.   It looked like a wall and hit just as sudden. One side of the road was blue sky the other dusty brown. Like a line in the sky.  I love the bike trailer and with Mace laying on me I was protected from the dust and wind.  By the time we got home everyone else was dirty, winded, and half panicked.... I was nearly asleep

July
trip to oregoan.

9-3-20
As the tic tok sibling anthem rightly sings. "hi I am the youngest i'm my families pride and joy." I make lots of sound like I'm talking all day.  I really say Mombee, Dadda, eyes, baba, baby,  ears, mouth, nose, ouch, no, poopoo, down, yes, shoes, out, whoa....more every day but my favorite most frequent is "MACE."    Hes my buddy. especially now the older kids are in school.  I love to dance. Katana and I put on  petty skirts and  I follow her in a spin and jump. I am very busy.  Nap is still a must I don't even fight. Everyone loves my curles.  I'm glad they are cute because I don't like my hair being done.  I pull out any bow or pony tail.   I can get out of my swinging crib.  I come find Mom or holler for her at the door.  Our morning routine is to sit and read a book and snuggle.   I love food and I know how to climb  Nothing is out of reach. Mom couldn't hide the nutella or  peanut butter high enough so screw on lids are a must now.  Point is I'm growing everyday and no one really wants me to.

11/11
I have really started to talk.  Like a parrot I repeat words.  I can say 50ish words: up, down, done, baba, mama, Dadda, Mace, Nana, Axel, bun, duck, pretty, ouch, no , yes, eyes, mouth, tap, apple, stop, nice, nose, milk, please, more....  I can follow 2-4 step commands.  I'm very smart, resourceful and independent.  I am all girl.  I like pretty things and to be pretty like my clothes and when my hair is done.  Lotion, makeup, Chapstick, brushes, babies.  my nickname is Curls cuz I have perfect ringlets with just water.
